SUNYANI, Ghana — Bono Regional Minister Joseph Addae Akwaboa has extended his ongoing “Accountability Tour” to the Jaman North District, visiting major towns and border communities to provide updates on government development initiatives.
The tour is part of the regional administration’s efforts to promote transparency and demonstrate progress on infrastructure and social investment projects that improve livelihoods in the Bono Region.
Infrastructure Projects Under Review
During the visit, the Minister inspected ongoing projects under the government’s “Big Push” initiative, an infrastructure strategy focused on underserved and border communities.
Key projects assessed include:
- Healthcare Expansion: New health facilities and Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds designed to improve access to primary healthcare and reduce travel time for residents.
- Educational Infrastructure: Construction of classroom blocks and school facilities to enhance teaching and learning conditions for students.
- Road Connectivity: Development of feeder roads linking farming communities to major markets, a move expected to support agricultural productivity and local trade.
Officials state these projects are essential for addressing long-standing development gaps in the district.
Engagement with Traditional Leaders
Minister Akwaboa met with the Jaman North Traditional Leaders, during which the traditional authorities raised concerns about local security, infrastructure deficits, and access to essential services.
The Minister thanked the chiefs and elders for their cooperation, describing the chieftaincy as a key partner in local governance and peacebuilding.
“We appreciate the unwavering support and patience of our traditional leaders as government works to deliver on its commitments,” he said.
Directive on Project Completion
Minister Akwaboa directed the District Chief Executive and relevant officials to increase oversight of contractors to ensure timely, high-quality project delivery.
“The people cannot wait indefinitely for these projects. Every ongoing initiative must be completed on time and meet the highest quality standards,” he stated.
Government Commitment
The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to development in Jaman North District, emphasizing that the area remains a regional priority.
The Accountability Tour will continue in other Bono Region districts in the coming weeks as authorities evaluate progress and address community concerns.
