A Reproductive and Child Health and Family Planning Unit has been commissioned at Sunyani Municipal Hospital, representing a targeted effort to strengthen maternal and child healthcare services in the Bono Region. The facility is designed to address service gaps and support the region’s broader healthcare objectives.
The commissioning ceremony was led by the Manhene of Sunyani, Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen KorKor II. Enterprise Group PLC, a Ghanaian insurance company, provided funding for the project as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives.
During the event, the Sunyani traditional ruler recognized Enterprise Group PLC’s contribution to healthcare delivery, noting that the project responds to longstanding infrastructure challenges at the hospital.
Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen KorKor II highlighted that Sunyani Municipal Hospital has experienced limited structural upgrades over the past sixty years, leading to deteriorating conditions and challenges in service delivery. He emphasized that new investments are essential for revitalizing healthcare infrastructure and enhancing patient care.
“This intervention is a major boost to the health sector in Sunyani,” he said, urging stakeholders to prioritize the maintenance and effective use of the new facility.
The Manhene urged healthcare professionals to uphold high standards in patient care and called on the community to participate actively in maintaining the facility.
Enterprise Group PLC indicated that the project forms part of its broader commitment to national development, with particular emphasis on improving access to healthcare.
The new unit is expected to enhance the availability of reproductive health services, maternal and child healthcare, and family planning support for residents of Sunyani and surrounding communities.
