The Bono Regional Minister, Joseph Addae Akwaboa, conducted an inspection of development projects in Berekum West District. The visit reviewed initiatives implemented during the current administration over the past year and five months.
The inspection covered projects in healthcare, education, and sanitation. According to the Minister, these initiatives are intended to improve residents’ living conditions.
Healthcare, Education, and Sanitation Gains
During the tour, the Minister inspected ongoing healthcare infrastructure projects, including the construction of Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds. These facilities are designed to expand access to medical services in rural areas.
In the education sector, new classroom blocks have been constructed to improve learning environments for students in the district.
Sanitation projects have been implemented to strengthen waste management systems and encourage hygiene practices among residents.
Key Projects Inspected
- Construction of three toilet facilities
- Development of three classroom blocks
- Establishment of two CHPS compounds
- Drilling of 23 boreholes to improve water access
The Minister stated that these projects reflect the government’s stated commitment to advancing welfare and socio-economic development in the district.


MP Outlines Funding Sources
After the inspection, the Member of Parliament for Berekum West, Hon. Dickson Kyere-Duah, provided the media with information on the funding sources for the projects.
According to the MP, funding has been secured through multiple channels, including:
- Central government allocations
- The GETFund (Ghana Education Trust Fund)
- The MP’s Common Fund
He referenced government-backed initiatives, including the Jinjini–Sampa Road project. This 80-kilometre asphalt road is intended to improve transportation and support economic activity in the area.
Additionally, he noted ongoing infrastructure development at St. Augustine’s High School, which includes:
- A two-story, 12-unit classroom block with four offices
- A dormitory project is currently at the foundation level
The MP reported that allocations from the MP Common Fund are being directed to projects in four communities within the constituency.


Assurance of Project Completion
Hon. Kyere-Duah stated that funding for the projects has been secured and that ongoing works are scheduled for completion within the planned timelines.
He indicated that he regularly monitors project sites and engages with constituents to assess their needs and challenges.
Commitment to Local Development
The inspection tour forms part of ongoing efforts by the government and local authorities to advance development in Berekum West. According to officials, continued investment in infrastructure and social services is expected to improve livelihoods and economic growth in the district.
