MADRID, Spain — Ghana’s Ambassador to Spain, Kulsoume Sinare Baffoe, will lead an investment forum in Madrid to connect European investors with Ghanaian businesses. The event is part of ongoing efforts to increase foreign direct investment and strengthen economic cooperation.

The economic forum, titled “Investing in Ghana: Opportunities for Strategic Partnership,” is scheduled for Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Calle del Término, 28850 Torrejón de Ardoz, Madrid.

The event, under the sub-theme “Creating Value Through Strategic Collaboration,” will present Ghana’s investment environment, including its democratic governance and participation in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Leveraging Stability and Strategic Location

Ambassador Kulsoume Sinare Baffoe will deliver a keynote address outlining factors relevant to European investors. Her remarks are expected to focus on Ghana’s political stability, democratic environment, skilled workforce, and natural resources.

“Ghana is no longer just a market; it is a strategic gateway to the entire African continent,” a Ghanaian resident in Barcelona, Mr. Francis Takyi, noted ahead of the event. “This forum is about moving beyond traditional trade to forging long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships that create real value for both Ghanaian and Spanish industries.”

Six Key Sectors in Focus

The forum will highlight six sectors identified by the government for partnership and growth:

  • Oil and Gas: Opportunities in both upstream and downstream activities, local refinery expansion, and infrastructure development.
  • Renewable Energy: Initiatives in solar, wind, and hydropower to increase green energy capacity and meet regional needs.
  • Agriculture and Agribusiness: Improvements in value chains, processing of cash crops, and development of mechanized farming partnerships.
  • Infrastructure and Real Estate: Urban housing projects and participation in state-supported transport and logistics infrastructure.
  • Manufacturing and Industry: Local production in industrial zones for export within West Africa.
  • Tourism and Hospitality: Expansion of luxury, eco-tourism, and cultural heritage facilities to support international visitors.
