Artificial Intelligence (AI) is now a practical component of Ghana’s education sector. Recent developments, including the launch of Ghana’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy (2025–2035) and a formal partnership with Google for Education, reflect a national effort to integrate AI into teaching and learning processes. These initiatives indicate a transition from technology consumption to active participation in the development and application of digital tools within the education system.
Understanding AI: The Simple Math Behind the Magic
Artificial Intelligence is a branch of computer science focused on developing software capable of performing tasks that typically require human intelligence. These tasks include reasoning, learning from previous data, and solving complex problems.
AI systems operate through advanced mathematics, statistics, and pattern recognition rather than human-like thought processes. For example, tools such as ChatGPT and Gemini generate text by calculating the probability of word sequences based on extensive analysis of prior data.
Within education, AI can function as a personalized digital tutor. By analyzing a student’s previous responses, AI systems can identify areas of difficulty and adjust instructional content to align with the learner’s pace and needs.
